Raymond Robichaud, 90 years of age, of Amherst passed away on
Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care
Centre, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Memramcook, NB he was
a son of the late Frederick & Eva (LeBlanc) Robichaud.
Raymond was involved in his community. He coached Little League Baseball and Minor Hockey for many years. He played baseball and enjoyed horseshoes & bowling. He was an avid fan of the Amherst Junior A Ramblers for many years. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and was a past Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for 60 years. Raymond was a Veteran of the Second World War with the Carleton York Regiment. In 1946 he returned to civilian life having attained the rank of Corporal. In August 1944 he married Alda (nee Melanson) and they had five children. He was employed with Robb Engineering for 39 years retiring in 1985. Raymond especially enjoyed summers at the family cottage at Pattersons Beach in Linden.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Alda, his five children; Ken (Verna), Linda Lewis (Roger), Wayne (Debra), Roger (Vicki) and Ann Hayes (Jack). Raymond is also survived by ten grandchildren: Lisa McEachern (Troy), Kari Bradford (David) , Ellen Bay (Rob) Jennifer Burbine (Robbie), Brad Robichaud, Beth Robichaud, Mitchell Robichaud (Crystal), Corey Robichaud ( Robin) Lucas Hayes and Caleb Hayes; three step-grandchildren, Ryan, Kent (Crista) and Joel (Lindsay) Beattie , nine great grandchildren, Hayden McEachern, Connor and Jeremy Robichaud, Leah & Alyssa Bradford, Abagail , Simon & Matthew Burbine and Emily Bay; two step great grandchildren, Noel Beattie, Parker Ward; also several nieces ,nephews and cousins. He will be sadly missed by one brother, Lawrence Robichaud (Shirley) and one sister Muriel ( the late Roger Kenney).
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S. a time of reflection and visitation will be held at the funeral Home on Thursday, December 5th, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Holy Family Parish on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 10:00 am. with Father Driscoll officiating. Reception to follow in the Parish Hall. Burial to take place at a later date in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery. No Flowers by request. Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
