Helen A. Hamilton

Helen A Hamilton, age 95, of Amherst, formerly of River Hebert, passed away peacefully at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center on Monday, July 26, 2010.

Born in River Hebert, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Laura (Theal) McGilchrist.

Helen was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend.  She was a member of the Holy Name Anglican Church, Joggins and an active member of the Church Guild.  She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Joggins Branch #4.

She will be dearly missed by sons Harry (Fran), Ottawa, William (Mary Beth), Danbury CT, USA, James (Laurell), Joggins; daughters, Mary McClary (Ralph), Joggins, Ann Dalby (Mike), Liverpool, NS; 14 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; brother Rufus (Ella) Parkers Cove, NS; sisters Minnie Dawson, River Hebert.

She was predeceased by her husband William, daughters Jean Harris, Margaret Tower, Laura Newey; sisters Mary Betts and Jennie Hall.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).  There will be no visitation.  A graveside service will be held at the Latta Cemetery, River Hebert on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 4 pm, Rev Charlotte Ross officiating.  A gathering will take place at the Joggins Royal Canadian Legion immediately following the service at the cemetery.
