1951-2010

Eric Jollota
Eric Jollota, age 58, of Southampton Rd, Amherst, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Moncton Hospital after a tragic accident at his home.

Born in Pictou County, he was a son of Ivan Jollota and the Late Joyce Green.

Eric was an avid outdoorsman, hunting, fishing, and generally enjoying time in the woods. He loved dancing, especially with his daughter Angela, playing darts, and cards, and especially his spoons. He enjoyed spending time at "his office" (Elm Tree Tavern) where he spent time with his wide circle of friends. He worked for many years as bartender for Elm Tree Tavern and the Legion, where he was also an active member. He loved working on local farms, especially Charlie Smith's and Cameron Maxwell's. In earlier years he worked construction in the Amherst Area and earned the position of foreman during the construction of Maritime Block.

He will be sadly missed by his life partner Ann Lang, Amherst, his father Ivan (Doris), Tidnish; children Andrew (Krista McKay), Fort McMurray, Anthony, Fort McMurray, Angela (Jamie Hoover), Canoe BC; 9 grandchildren; brothers Jimmy, Amherst, Timmy, Springhill; sisters Linda (Albert) Dobson, Chignecto, Ruth (Herb) Nickerson, Advocate, Shirley (Roger) Howlett, Tidnish, Dale (David) Landry, Chignecto, Thelma (Tommy) Haynes, Lorneville, Nancy (Stephen) Comeau, Chignecto. In addition to his mother, he was predeceased by infant siblings John and Mary.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-8777) where a Time of Remembrance will be shared on Thursday from 2 until 4 pm. All are then invited to the Elm Tree Tavern, 1 Victoria, Amherst to continue sharing memories of Eric and to toast a great man.

Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Eric may do so to LA Animal Shelter or the charity of your choice. Eric's family wish to extend special thanks to all the nurses and staff at the Neurology Intensive Care Unit of the Moncton Hospital especially Michelle and Nicole for their understanding and care that they provided.
