Lillian G Brown

Lillian Grace Brown, age 97, of Amherst, passed away peacefully at the Gables Lodge on Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Born in Amherst Head, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Hanna (Beharrell) Brooks. Lillian was a member of Christ Church and a former member of St. Martha's Church Group. She was also a member of the Golden Years Society as well as a member of the Pythian Sisters Elizabeth Temple #6. For several years she volunteered with the Saint John Ambulance. Together with her husband, Vernon, she operated the Amherst Pumping Station in Brookdale. Lillian is survived by a son, Robert (Norine) of Amherst; a daughter, Judith (Kenneth) Canton of Amherst; 11 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Elsie and sister-in-law, Mary Carter. She was predeceased by her husband Vernon in 1970; a son, Ronald; sisters, Mabel Chapman, Lola Latimer, Gladys Cove Verlie Robinson and Gertrude Porter; and brothers, Robert, Earl and Owen Brooks. Arrangements have been entrusted to Furlong Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St, Amherst (667-8777). A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, February 5, 2010 at 2 pm, Archdeachon Glenn Eason officiating. Following cremation burial will be held in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring. No visitation by request.
