 Beryl Beatrice Rushton

Beryl Beatrice Rushton, resident of The Mira, Truro, NS, formerly of Amherst, NS. With family by her side she passed away on January 26, 2018 three months prior to her 89th birthday.  She was predeceased by her friend Evelyn Roach in September 2010. Beryl was the fourth oldest from a family of 13 to the late Merle and Elsie (Moore) Rushton, Westchester, NS. 

Left to mourn and cherish her memory are sisters Mildred Barclay, The Mira, Truro, NS; Stella Corbin (Earle deceased), Oxford, NS;  Betty MacDonald (Stacey), Lower Onslow, NS; Esther MacDonald (Rod), Lower Onslow, NS; Gene Cross, Charlottetown, PE; and brothers Claude (Marilyn), Truro, NS and Ken, Westville, NS and sister-in-law Myrna Rushton, Springhill, NS.   She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Hazel Taylor (Byard); and brothers and sisters-in law Lester (Hanna), Russell (Mary), Milton (Jean) and Ron.                      

Beryl enjoyed all aspects of life.  She loved to travel with her friend Evelyn Roach and wintered in Arizona for many years.  When she left home at age 23 she went to work in Amherst with the Abram family before acquiring other jobs at Robb’s Engineering and Steel Plant, Reid’s Bookstore, Cecil’s Bakery and The Barrel Drive-In Restaurant before retiring.

A Celebration of Beryl's life will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11 am from Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777).

Donations in Beryl's memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society.

She was blessed with wonderful caregivers at The Mira and the family are forever grateful.
